My First NSS Experience — A Weekend I’ll Never Forget
Let’s start from the top.
I’d never been to NSS before. Honestly, I didn’t even know what to expect. But when the Idenel team reached out and told me they were flying in from South Korea and setting up a stall, I just knew I couldn’t miss it.
This wasn’t just any skincare event, this was NSS (Non-Surgical Symposium). Cosmetic doctors, plastic surgeons, dermatologists, nurses, dermal therapists, the smartest people in the room… all under one roof.
And I kept thinking.. Am I even meant to be in that room? Am I smart enough for this?
But something inside me, something quiet but persistent kept whispering:
“Go anyway.”
Sometimes getting out of your comfort zone is the only direction forward.
We had just a few weeks to prep. We rebuilt our entire website from scratch, pulled late nights, early mornings, redesigned business cards, created a full content plan… and somehow, we made it.
Because when you believe in a product as much as I believe in Idenel, you do what it takes.
And truthfully, with Idenel? The product sells itself. You can see visible results in ten minutes. It’s next-level.
Thursday.. The Kickoff
We landed in Brisbane, Uber’d straight to the Gold Coast, checked in, and by 5:45pm Thursday night, I was pacing our apartment with sweaty palms and note cards.
(Even though I know this product like the back of my hand, imposter syndrome was real.)
At 6:10pm, we got the text “We are here”
We went downstairs to greet them and bring them up to our apartment - welcoming two incredible women for a private VIP demo.
Nerves turned into adrenaline. Adrenaline turned into passion.
And by the time they left? I couldn’t believe what we’d just pulled off.
I looked at Michal, my senior skin therapist and just said:
“We really did that.”
And look, I’m not someone who lets myself feel proud. I don’t often stop and soak in the wins. But that night?
I felt proud.
Friday.. Lights, Camera, Purpose
5am wake-up. Hair. Makeup. Tripods. Coffee. Content.
Kate from Seven Rabbits met us to film, shoot, and help capture the magic.
And for the first time in a long time, everything just… clicked.
I wasn’t overthinking. I wasn’t doubting. I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
We spoke about Luxura Skin. Shared our journey. Reflected on where we started and how far we’ve come.
Then we headed to the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre for the NSS opening ceremony.
I looked around at the crowd, doctors, founders, formulators, industry giants, and I didn’t feel out of place.
I felt ready.
I was proud to be there representing Luxura Australia, proud to be the QLD distributor of Idenel, and proud to stand for regional business owners like me who are just getting started.
After the lectures, we visited the Idenel team at their stall — and WOW. These women are the definition of smart, humble, and powerful. I asked a million questions and soaked up every answer like a sponge.
We filmed, interviewed, laughed, learned, and ended the day with the best Italian dinner and an even better wine.
Saturday.. The Power of Presence
We had a slower morning (thank god). Lemon water. Horrible instant coffee. But the vibes were immaculate.
We used the downtime to shoot some content for both @luxura.skin and @idenel.qld - and can I just say, Michal was amazing. She doesn’t love being on camera, but she absolutely crushed it. A total wealth of knowledge and grace.
We arrived at NSS around 10:15am. Within minutes, the Idenel team messaged:
“Live treatment in 10. Come now.”
We bolted to the stall, captured the entire demo, and watched as people gathered around, eyes wide, asking questions. The Idenel team handed out my business cards, it was magic.
You could literally see the moment people got it. You could see the excitement on their faces.
After the treatment, we soaked up more conference talks and then came the best surprise yet:
They offered me the chance to take home as much stock as I could to avoid international shipping (which is not cheap).
Cue: full-speed sprint to Pacific Fair, grabbed a suitcase from Big W, came back, and packed it to the brim with product… only to realise I couldn’t check it in for the flight home
Thankfully, Kate’s daughter (from Seven Rabbits) saved the day and met us out the front of the Exhibition Centre at 6pm. Angels, honestly.
Sunday.. Coming Home
We woke up early, packed up, and Uber’d to Brisbane to fly home to Rockhampton.
And on that flight, I finally had a second to breathe.
This whole weekend… it changed something in me.
I feel clearer. I feel more certain. And most of all, I feel ready.
Since coming home, three clinics have already reached out wanting to stock Idenel.
We are just getting started.
Reflecting..
To anyone reading this who’s been doubting themselves:
Go anyway.
Apply anyway.
Show up anyway.
You are not “too small” or “too late.” You just haven’t stepped into your power yet.
Thank you to everyone who supported this moment, my team, my greatest friends, my skin family, my husband, and especially the Idenel crew for trusting me to represent something so powerful in Queensland.
I’m so grateful.
Now let’s go change skin and lives.
With love,
Shelby x
